Baltimore
Starlings Volleyball Club
The
Baltimore
Starlings Volleyball Club, an affiliate
of the Starlings Volleyball Clubs, USA, provides
an equal opportunity for girls from diverse socioeconomic
backgrounds to train and compete at USA Volleyball's
Junior Olympic level. Since 1999, the Baltimore
Starling Volleyball Club has provided girls ages
12-18 from throughout Baltimore City the opportunity
to join one of three teams through which they
compete against club teams from other states and
Maryland. The season runs from January through
June and culminates at the Starlings National
Championship held annually in San Diego, California.
The
Baltimore Starlings Volleyball Club is an excellent
opportunity for young women in Baltimore City
to improve their athletic skills and compete at
a higher level. Many participants simply could
not afford the economic obligation to participate
in club volleyball competition. As a result of
having been exposed to club competition, some
participants have been able to use volleyball
as a vehicle to gain access to a college education.
In an effort to help facilitate this process,
the club monitors the academic progress of each participant to ensure they will be prepared for college entrance exams.
The Baltimore Starlings Volleyball Club is sponsored
in partnership with the Starlings Volleyball Clubs,
USA, and the Family League of Baltimore City.
