Baltimore
Middle School Soccer League
The
Baltimore Middle School Soccer League provides
students in Baltimore City Middle Schools the
opportunity to participate in organized soccer
league competition. The league consists of two
seasons, Fall and Spring. Eight boys teams
and eight girls teams play in the fall and 12 girls teams play in the spring.
Annually, more than 480 young people identified
by
their
schools normally participate in the league. Teams
practice after school and play interleague
games
against other middle schools from all over Baltimore
City.
The
Baltimore Middle School Soccer League is an excellent
opportunity for young people to learn the fundamental
skills of soccer, teamwork and sportsmanship.
For many participants, this is their only opportunity
to participate in a structured after school athletic
program. Along with building soccer skills, the
league also reinforces the importance of school
by monitoring academic performance, daily attendance,
and citizenship of players. At the end of each
season, there is a tournament with rewards for
the winning team and the team with the highest
academic achievements.
The Baltimore Middle School Soccer League is sponsored
in partnership with The Abell Foundation and Baltimore
City Public Schools.
